Hastings Direct (‘Hastings’) announces 2017 charity partners

31 Jan 2017

Hastings Direct has announced the Bexhill charities that will benefit from the company’s fundraising efforts throughout 2017.

Selecting different charity partners each year, 2017’s beneficiaries have been confirmed as Dom’s Food Mission and Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary in East Sussex and Wishes4Kids and Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes in the Leicestershire area. Across the year, Hastings will host and take part in many fundraising events and activities with monies raised being distributed amongst the charity partners.

Helping to give back to the local community, Hastings colleagues also donate their time in practical ways with each having the opportunity to give one working day to charity. In 2016, colleagues transformed the garden at a local hospice, offered support to an Eastbourne charity with their social media expertise and wrapped and  delivered Christmas presents to those in need.

Jay Wootten, Hastings Community Relations Manager commented;

“We are delighted to announce that we will be working with two great charities throughout 2017. We are now planning our internal fundraising events which will provide financial donations and later in the year, our colleagues will volunteer their time to help in a variety ways at Dom’s Food Mission and Barby Keel.”

Dom Warren, founder, Dom’s Food Mission said; “Partnering up with Hastings Direct will be amazing for our charity and our community. It will be great to see monies raised flow through our charity helping us to try and build enough funding to find a Dom's FOOD mission home! So many people will benefit from the drive and passion from our team and all the staff at Hastings Direct! We look forward to a long and successful partnership together!”

Elaine Chenery, trustee, Barby Keel Animal Sanctuary said; “We’re very excited for Barby Keel to be one of Hastings Direct’s 2017 charity partners. We have to raise £15,000 to comply with Health and Safety rules so any financial donations to the charity are greatly received. As well as these costs we are also looking to make repairs to the cattery and kennel roofs which are both in urgent need of attention, as well as the dog exercise pound which needs renewing. We also need to complete the concreting of the footpaths around the sanctuary, making it possible for visitors in wheelchairs to get to the toilets and to be able to view the animals in the paddocks. We look forward to the financial and practical help from Hastings Direct over the coming year.”

Janine Bates, Trustee, Wishes4Kids said; “"Wishes4kids are very happy to be chosen as one of Hastings Direct’s charity partners for the year.  We hope that we are able to carry on granting many more wishes with their help and support and look forward to working with them as a team.  We never know what a child is going to ask for so we will probably be challenging Hastings’ staff to help us with a surprise or two over the coming year.  We are very much a 'hands on' Charity and will be inviting staff to come and join us when we have an event planned so that they can meet some of our children and get first-hand experience of how we work"
Ben Holmes, Events Coordinator, Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes said; “Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes are delighted to be named as one of Hastings Direct’s 2017 charity partner. It is fantastic to be recognised by such a great insurer and being a charity partner will help so much with funding. We’ll be able to continue the work we do now as well as also looking to expand our capabilities to be able to support the NHS in so many more ways.
We are now working towards getting four wheeled transport so we can carry more supplies and the funding that we will receive from Hastings Direct will go a long way in helping that to happen - hopefully far sooner than we had initially hoped. For every £1 donated to our group, we save the NHS approximately £5 which over the year is a huge saving and will have a worthy impact on the great work the NHS does every day.”
